Union Training & Communicating

Unions exist to serve and support workers.  The purpose of a union is to protect members’ physical health and financial welfare. During COVID-19, this mission includes the following roles on behalf of members:

  • Provide the expertise and resources necessary to supplement the health and safety training every craft worker receives over thousands of hours of apprenticeship and journeyman development
  • Develop and assist in the implementation of specific COVID-19 safety and awareness training to target jobsite behaviors related to exposure
  • Send representatives to job sites to educate, communicate and listen to worker concerns while working collaboratively with the contractor on potential solutions
  • Articulate the needs of the workers and their families when policies are being considered by governments or agencies that impact members’ employment, finances, and futures
